Sound:

• Discriminates between sounds and identifies the properties of sound.
• Sound is caused by vibrations and travels in waves.
• Pitch is the “highness” or “lowness” of a sound, determined by the frequency of sound waves.
• Amplitude is the loudness of a sound, determined by the amplitude (height) of a sound wave.
• Sound travels through different materials at different speeds (frequencies).

Insects:

• Insects have a set of common characteristics.
• Insects are adapted to their habitats and have distinctive life cycles.
• Some insects are harmful to humans and the envirenment and many are helpful.
